School Spirit?

April 11, 2010

Couch races, here we come...

Option 1: Kick off some early studying before exam week comes about. Option 2: Strap a set of wheels to a couch with the intention of racing the whole setup down a hill.

Naturally, I chose option two this afternoon. Although, to be specific, we decided to strap two couches together using two-by-fours, screws, nails, and duct tape (See picture). The entire purpose of this, of course, was to participate in an annual event that is on my list of goals to complete before graduation: the Bermuda Shorts Day (BSD) couch races! For those who are unfamiliar with the event, it is exactly what it sounds like: a multitude of students building whatever version of a rolling couch they can come up with and racing them all down a large hill on the morning of Friday April 16th. The reason for this occasion? The last day of classes for the university semester!

I look forward to the gong show that is Bermuda Shorts Day, however, there is a slight chance of pain, suffering, and death. Should be okay, as long as I learn to bail, right? Probably? Is it weird that I am almost more concerned about missing the rest of the party (Couch races are at 10am that morning) than I am about getting mangled?

Anyway, I’ll let you know how it goes, and hopefully I’ll still have both arms to type with.
